Milady started as a 10,000-piece NFT collection of generative neochibi anime portraits inspired by Y2K Tokyo street fashion. But it became something much bigger — a full-blown digital cult with its own aesthetic, philosophy, and subculture. Originating from a Twitter DM group called the Remilia Corporation, Milady combined lo-fi anime, cyber-anarchism, edgy humor, and esoteric internet theory into a movement. Holders operated as a swarm on Twitter, flooding timelines with inside jokes and absurdist content. Despite founder Charlotte Fang's scandal, Milady proved anti-fragile — endorsed by both Elon Musk and Vitalik Buterin. It spawned derivative projects like Remilio, Retardio, and Sproto Gremlins, and is widely considered the template for how to build a cult community in crypto.
