In February 2021, a movement swept Crypto Twitter where users added glowing laser eyes to their profile pictures as a way to collectively manifest Bitcoin reaching $100,000. Politicians, influencers, fund managers, celebrities, and everyday CT users all joined in. It was the peak expression of bull market conviction — the belief that if enough people believed hard enough, the number would go up. Bitcoin didn't hit $100K until late 2024 — over three years after the meme peaked — but by then most people had quietly removed their laser eyes during the bear market.
