ZachXBT is the pseudonymous blockchain investigator behind a platypus-in-a-trenchcoat avatar who has become the most important accountability figure in crypto. After losing money to scams during the 2017 ICO boom and getting hacked for $15K in 2018, he taught himself blockchain forensics and never looked back. Since 2021, he's exposed rug pulls, phishing rings, influencer pump-and-dumps, and even North Korean state-sponsored hacking operations. He identified the Lazarus Group behind the $1.5 billion Bybit hack within hours. He's helped French authorities arrest a 5-person BAYC phishing ring, exposed Murad's hidden wallets, investigated Logan Paul's CryptoZoo, and identified Martin Shkreli as the creator of a Trump-linked token. He was sued for defamation by NFT whale MachiBigBrother — the crypto community crowdfunded over $1M for his legal defense. In 2025, he joined Paradigm as an incident response advisor. His real name was revealed in court filings as Zachary Wolk, but he continues to operate anonymously.
